My first trip to the dentist was so successful. I got three crowns. They fit perfectly. They match perfectly. And I knew that I had some real problem with a couple of molars in the upper part of my mouth that I really didn’t want to pursue dental treatment because I knew there was nothing there, and I would need implants. So I came in. The doctor agreed that I needed the implants.

And the process that he uses, unlike many of my friends who’ve had some bad experiences with implants, he doesn’t hurry it. He’s very meticulous. They required that he do bone marrow transplants below and above the bone up here for them to extend to the depth they needed. Had to do a sinus lift, which is very tricky procedure, and if the doctor is not really skilled, you can have some big problems.

It took time. It takes time to see if the bone marrow transplant is going to work, so he didn’t try and rush it. It took a period of months. Once we knew that we had structure, he went in and drilled the holes, and he put the titanic base pieces in. And then we put the final teeth in for the transplant.
When I walked out of the office that day, I had no issue with those, these two beautiful transplants. And it’s been almost a year. I haven’t had … I don’t even notice that they’re in there. They’re just natural. I don’t know that another dentist can do that kind of work. Maybe a periodontist, even though a lot of the work that Dr. Hardcastle does is like a periodontist, really. And my wife and I just could not be happier. It’s amazing.

I had two teeth on the top that needed root canals. I didn’t know. I knew I had some issues with them. I could feel that they were hurting. They were bothering me, and I had one tooth on the bottom, that was the reason that I called because on the side of the tooth was a hole, and you could see it. I could feel it. It was rather large, and that was my initial, “Okay, I need to call. I need to get over this fear and go.”

So the first thing that he addressed was the hole on the bottom tooth, and he was able to do a filling on that and completely fixed it. That was my first, I guess, real dental procedure. For that, coming in for that appointment, I was again, terrified, but he made me super comfortable. Came in, everybody gets scared of the shots, the numbing shots. So I’m sitting in the chair and I’m sweating, and I’m sure my face is red, and I’m ready to go. He comes in and he’s feeling around, he’s like, “Okay, you’re going to feel a little bit of jiggling in your mouth.” I’m like, “What is he feeling? What is he doing?” Then he walks out, he says, “I’ll be back in about five minutes,” and the whole side of my face starts going numb. I didn’t even know he gave me the shots. He’s just good. He’s really good at what he does.

After that, my anxiety was a little bit less for the root canals. Part of the treatment plan was I needed two root canals on the top. I came in for those, and it was the same thing. Only this time I knew when we were going in, kind of when we were going to give the shots, so I was a little more anxious but completely pain-free. I would say he’s a magician at what he does. Completely pain-free and took care of the root canals and surprisingly, completely painless. Halfway through it, I’m laying in the chair and I’m thinking to myself, “I’ve heard nightmares about root canals. This is nothing.” It was completely painless. Overall, for getting a root canal, it was an awesome experience, if you can call a root canal an awesome experience.

Well, actually it was my mother because my mother, I had been saying all along, “The next time I’m just going to get them all pulled, and I’ll get false teeth,” and she said, “Don’t do it.” Because she does have false teeth. So when the other teeth started getting loose from the partial that I took out, in and out, every day because eventually, taking it in and putting it back out, taking it out every night, it loosened those other two teeth. I don’t have to worry about that anymore. If I had gotten another partial plate with three teeth, these would’ve started coming loose eventually because the pull and the tug, and the pull and the tug.

Knowing that I will never lose any more teeth is paramount for me, paramount. I don’t have that plate anymore up in my mouth, so I taste everything better. Everything tastes better. I can eat almonds. I’m so happy I can eat almonds. I haven’t been able to eat almonds in years, which also lowered my cholesterol. I’ve had a lot of benefits from it just because I can eat. I don’t have to say, “Well, I can’t eat that,” because I can. I can eat anything now, anything. I don’t have to worry about it pushing or pulling on an apparatus. It’s not as strong – when you have a partial plate, it’s not as strong as your own teeth. I can literally rip into anything.

It was a couple of years ago, and I was walking my dog, and all of a sudden I found myself falling, and I did a faceplant on the concrete and was able to get myself back to the house. And they were the first call I made, was, “Help.”

And so I came straight into the office, and they didn’t mind. They were just super kind and reassuring and helpful, and that was several months of a process that I went through with them, multiple visits. They were always aware of what had happened, how they needed to care for me, and I always felt very cared for whenever I came for those appointments, and I ended up having an implant done. I had had an implant, and so that had to be removed and a new one put in, and I told my husband while we’re there, we’re just going to go ahead and get the bottom teeth done too so everything looks great.

We opted in for more treatment than was absolutely necessary, but it just seemed like the right time to get everything done, and I’m really pleased. I feel like everything looks natural, feels natural. The colors seem natural to me. And Dr. Hardcastle, he is an artist in my mind, and I feel like he doesn’t just want to put teeth in, he wants them to look great.

And so I’m awfully grateful for that because I’m an artist, and so we see eye to eye a lot of times on those kinds of things – colors, shape. He wants everything to look just like it did before or better.

Well, I have to say before I felt like some of my teeth weren’t really the size and shape that I’d wanted all my life. So not that I’d ever want to have to go through that again, but I felt like I came out with such a better smile than I ever had before. I was just very pleased that I finally got my teeth straight, my teeth white, and it just was such a relief, really, to have that finished.

I’m one of the individuals that does not have excellent teeth, even as hard as I try to maintain them with cleanings and flossing and Waterpik. I’ve still had problems with my teeth through my adult life. With that, I’ve lost some teeth. I’ve had a few teeth replaced with implants. Having dental implants, there is a level of anxiety when you get one or probably each time that you get one because the process is they have to remove a tooth if that’s needed, or if there’s a space there, then they don’t have to do the extraction. But I’ve had nothing but great success with everyone and every implant that I’ve received. I’m very happy that I did it and very comfortable.

After the initial one with Dr. Hardcastle, then I knew the level of work or professionalism that I would receive from him, and it’s always been way above, if there’s a standard, way above standard.
